Privacy policy

Data collected

We never receive your card number: it is entered on Stripe's own pages and does not pass through our servers.

Use

Your data is used solely to provide the service: to sign you in, compare your keywords against the text of each edition, alert you and collect your subscription payment. It is neither sold nor passed on for advertising or profiling purposes.

What we pass on, and to whom

Your data is passed on to two third parties.

Apart from these two cases, your data is disclosed to no one, except where the law requires it.

Content of the Official Gazette

We keep no extract of the Feuille d'avis officielle (the Geneva Official Gazette): neither our database nor our emails reproduce its text. An alert contains only the date of the edition, your own keywords found in it and a link to fao.ge.ch.

The PDF file of the edition is placed on our server for the duration of processing, then deleted. In the event of an incident, it remains there until we intervene. It is the entire edition, already public on fao.ge.ch, without any of your data.

Security

The service is accessible over HTTPS and the session cookie is sent only over an encrypted connection. Passwords are hashed with argon2.

Retention

Your data is kept for as long as your account exists. You may delete that account from your account area: your account, your address, your groups, your keywords and your alert history are then erased, with no way back.

While a paid subscription is active, the team's last administrator cannot delete their account. Deletion becomes possible again at the end of the period already paid for. Other members may delete their own account or leave the team at any time. To stop only the emails, suspend alerts from your account area or from the unsubscribe link in each alert.

Two traces survive deletion: your customer record at Stripe, which we do not ask them to erase, and our technical logs, where your address appears only truncated.

Rights

Under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (nLPD), you have a right of access to your data, of rectification, of deletion, of release or transfer of the data you have provided to us, and of objection to its processing.

Your groups, your keywords and your account are managed from your account area. For any other request, including a copy of your data or a correction to your address, write to contact@fao-watch.ch from your account's own address.

If our reply does not satisfy you, you may contact the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), in Berne, or bring the matter before the civil courts.
